Thornton Wilder wrote "Our Town" in one of the secluded studios at The MacDowell Colony. Since its founding, hundreds of artists, composers and writers have used the gift of time and space to explore and expand their art--writing, composing, or visual art. Seclusion, isolation and even collaboration among other artists is what sets these artists free to create.
